What competitions await us in 2018?

2017 has been a glorious year for Spanish sport, despite the fact that many of the competitions have gone unnoticed by the press. This year the sport also has important dates and we are going to mention some of them so that you can write them down in your calendar.

European Handball Championship

From January 14 to 28, "Los Hispanos" will compete in group D together with Hungary, the Czech Republic and the current Olympic champion, Denmark. They are all competing to win the title of European Champions, which this year will be held in Croatia. We wish them all the luck and a lot of strength to get past the group stage.

From the 15th to the 21st of this month, the European Figure Skating Championship will be held, based in Moscow. Our big bet is Javier Fernández, whose championship will serve the Spanish as "training" for the Winter Olympic Games. They will be held in South Korea from February 9 to 25.

Winter Paralympics

Since the last Paralympic Games, it seems that the public is becoming more interested in this competition so forgotten by the media. The XII Paralympic Winter Games will take place in South Korea from March 9 to 18. Spain will fight to climb positions in the historical ranking of medals, since we are currently in 13th place with 42 medals (15 gold, 16 silver and 11 bronze).

Roland Garros

From May 27 to June 10 we will have the renowned Roland Garros clay court tournament. We will see Rafa Nadal compete again, who will try to continue maintaining that Number 1 by winning the tournament. Let's remember that he is the first and only tennis player to have won the trophy up to 10 times.

Tour de Francia

From July 7 to 29 we will have busy summer days with the Tour de France. Despite the fact that cycling is in the spotlight due to the numerous cases of doping, it is a long-awaited event for all.

European Water Polo Championship

From July 14 to 28, the European Water Polo Championship will take place in Barcelona. We will enjoy male, female and mixed competitions. The girls will face off against Greece, the Netherlands, Hungary, Italy, Russia and six other teams. In the case of the boys, they will have to compete against Croatia, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia and eight other teams. We hope that both categories stay with the victory.

badminton world championship

From July 30 to August 5 we will see Carolina Marín compete in China in the Badminton World Cup. She expects her presence to be a major threat to her Asian rivals, so we hope she can make all of her opponents' nightmares come true. For now, she is running as one of her favorites.

European Swimming Championships

We will enjoy Mireia Belmonte again from August 3 to 12, in Glasgow (Scotland). Right now, Mireia is the European runner-up in 1500 and 4 x 200 freestyle, as well as a bronze medalist in 400 freestyle. She is sure that this year she will break records again and become one of the best athletes of the year.

Women's Tennis: Singapore Masters

From October 22 to 28 we will have the Women's Tennis Masters in Singapore. Garbiñe Muguruza will try to win the victory that would crown her as one of the best Spanish tennis players in history. Hopefully I can qualify.

XXIV Karate World Cup

From November 6 to 11, the XXIV World Karate Championship of the Senior category will be held in Madrid. In this competition, Spain will try to improve the number of five medals achieved in the last World Cup held (2016).
It will be the fourth time that Spain hosts the karate world cup.
