McDonald's modifies its Happy Meal menu to make it healthier

Being aware of the difficulty we find in eating healthy when we go out, one of the biggest problems is children's menus. Although in this case we will be talking about the new McDonald's initiative, it is very common to find children's options on the menu of a bar in which breaded chicken, French fries, sausages and ice cream make the main meal for a child. It is not healthy for an adult, much less for a child.

It often happens that birthdays are celebrated in multinational chains such as hamburgers or pizzerias, and none of them find a healthy menu. In Spain, a nutritional plan is going to be carried out for supermarkets and hotels, trying to reduce the rate of overweight and obesity.

McDonald's reforms its Happy Meal

One of the most demanded menus in this hamburger restaurant is the Happy Meal. A few years ago they integrated fruit as dessert and the option of drinking water instead of soda. On this occasion, cheeseburger and chocolate milkshake will disappear of the options for the children's menu.

These two initiatives are taken to encourage a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet. With these two changes, the menu Reduce your calories by 20%. It is true that, although these options disappear from the default menu, parents will have the possibility to request it. Let's hope that doesn't happen!
For now these changes will be established in the United States, but it will take little time for them to make an appearance in Europe. McDonald's has set out to by 2022, half of its kids' meals are no more than 600 calories. They also expect only 10% to come from saturated fat and another 10% from added sugars.

Perhaps you are hallucinating with the amount of calories that a children's menu contains, but have you ever wondered how many does a hamburger contain? There are those that are around 1.000 calories!

Finally, returning to the Happy Meal news, they will include as a default option a water bottle. And I also know reduce the amount of fries, creating a more suitable container for the little ones. It is estimated that added sugars will decrease by 50% and saturated fats by 13%.
