From Europe they have launched Mobility Week with hundreds of activities throughout Europe to give visibility to bicycles and put cars aside. This is a strategy to motivate citizens so that we opt for sustainable mobility by choosing means of transport that do not pollute between September 16 and 22, 2021.

The European Mobility Week 2021 has been celebrated for almost 20 years and on this occasion there are almost half a thousand Spanish towns and cities participating with a multitude of activities that revolve around sustainable mobility. The idea is to leave the car parked and use public transport, the bicycle or change car transport to walk where we need to go.

Between 16 and 22 September multitude of Spanish towns and cities join the Mobility Week. We can consult from the official website all the towns and cities of Spain that participate, so we will know if ours is there or not and what activities it will offer during those days of the event.

We will see many awareness activities where the main protagonist will be the bike. Many cities who take advantage of this week's pull and make free activities available to citizens such as the ones we will see below.

Free public transport and Bicimad

The week of sustainable mobility brings free public transport in various cities and one hour of free Bicimad in the Community of Madrid.

Starting with Madrid, there are numerous events that are going to be held throughout that autonomous community. Bicimad will be free 1 hour a day during the week awareness, as well as Bicimad Go. In addition, Bicipark will also be free for all users who have the Madrid Mobility 360 App.

On Sunday, September 19, there will be no cars in the area of ​​Paseo del Prado and Recoletos, and between Atocha and Colón. They will be pedestrian zones from 11 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon. There will be tents set up in the Colón, Neptuno and Cibeles area to encourage good lifestyle habits, as well as free medical check-ups and competitions.

In Ciudad Real, on September 17 they will do a free night route (walking) explaining the city's monuments, likewise, the bus will be free on September 18 for all citizens. Something similar happens in León, where today, September 17 and next September 22, the urban bus will be free until midnight.

In Segovia, during the European Mobility Week, the main museums of the city will be free to encourage physical activity and leave the car parked. If we live in Segovia and have bicycles that we don't use, we can donate them at the passenger information office at the bus station and they will go to the Alberto Contador Foundation.

Mallorca, beyond being the favorite destination for vacations, it will also celebrate the Afternoon on Wheels, a sustainable march where we can join the routes by bike, skates, scooters, skates, etc.

We name Madrid again and it is that it has an extensive itinerary with bike routes for this weekend where the starting gun is given to the European Mobility Week.

Next Saturday, September 18, there will be a bike route from Dehesa de la Villa to Madrid Río. People over 14 years of age can participate and the use of a helmet is essential and each one carries the bicycle. The circuit starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 12 a.m. and a minimum skill is required when it comes to ride a bike.

On September 19 there will be another bike route in Madrid, and this time from the Dehesa de la Villa to the Paseo del Prado. It is necessary to bring a bicycle and the use of a helmet is mandatory. People over 14 years old can participate and the tour will last from 10 in the morning to 11 in the morning.

On the same 19th there will also be another bicycle route, this time from Paseo del Prado to the famous Gran Vía. The rest of the requirements are the same as in the previous routes, except that the start time is at 11:12 and ends at XNUMX:XNUMX in the morning.

Cordova, a beautiful city where there are any and which is also committed to the European Mobility Week. They have created bicycle routes to contribute their grain of sand. The idea is entitled Pedal in a sustainable and healthy way with groups of 15 or 20 people to get to know specific areas of Córdoba, and we will be accompanied by a tutor and a local police officer.
