Nestea Fusion presents Chai tea and Matcha tea

Nestea Fusion Tea Latte

Even brands that have been on the crest of the wave for years must be renewed to maintain their status. This is the case of Nestea, which has been with us for many years and is now being encouraged to launch new refrigerated and ready-to-eat drinks. Until now, it had never set foot in the milky beverage industry, and now it's coming through the front door with Nestea Fusion and Chay Milk and Matcha Milk, both chilled and ready to drink.

Drinking tea is one of the most beneficial things we can do, be it with water or milk, but we can also make beginner's mistakes. Let's remember that Nestea Fusion comes from Nestea, a non-carbonated, (very) sugary and different flavored tea drink that is sold in cans and bottles of different sizes.

By this we mean that as much as it is Chai tea or Matcha tea, two of the best teas we can drink In our day to day, let's not forget that this version is not very healthy, and we are going to find out below.

Nestea Fusion Chai and Matcha

Nestea Fusion Tea Latte

Nestea's new version of milk tea arrives in an easy-open 180ml plastic container with a cylindrical tumbler-like design. At the moment there are only 2 varieties of tea with milk, but it is not ruled out that more will be launched throughout the summer or teas prepared to heat in the microwave in winter. They are just our assumptions.

  • Chai Tea Latte: the famous Chai tea also known as Masala Chai original from South India and which is a mixture of black tea with spices and aromatic herbs.
  • Matcha Tea Latte: In this case, the famous Matcha tea from Matcha green tea is of Japanese origin and is characterized by its flavor and antioxidant power.

From Nestlé they comment that the tea leaves with which their new drink is made have been carefully selected and come from sustainable plantations in Asia. They have Rainforest Alliance accreditation, and they fight against deforestation and climate change, in addition to creating opportunities and economies in rural areas.

Nestea Fusion Review

We do not think that because they are milk tea drinks it will be something very healthy. We always advise that before choosing a substitute product, we go to the original food. In this case, it is almost better to prepare Chai tea or Matcha tea with milk ourselves.

Both Nestea Fusion Chai Tea Latte and Nestea Fusion Matcha Tea Latte come in a 180 ml format, with milk and tea, as indicated by their ingredients:

  • Fusion Matcha Tea Latte: pasteurized skimmed milk (95%), sugar, green tea extract, Matcha tea and natural tea aroma.
  • Nestea Fusion Chai Tea Latte: pasteurized skimmed milk (95%), sugar, tea extract, spice extract (ginger, cinnamon, lemongrass, cloves and cardamom).

The nutritional information of both refrigerated drinks is:

Nestea Fusion Chai Tea Latte Nutritional Table

We see that they have 45 kilocalories each, no fat, 8,2 grams of carbohydrates (all are sugars), 0% fiber, 2,9 grams of protein, 0,13 grams of salt and 109 mg of calcium that corresponds to 14% of the recommended daily amount for an average adult.

In general, they are not bad at all, except that they have more than 8 grams of sugar in a simple 180 ml glass. Therefore, if we make it ourselves with unsweetened milk, it could be an even more beneficial tea in terms of nutrients.
