Belonging to the Guinness Book of World Records is not easy, so anyone should consider it an achievement. On this occasion, three bodybuilders will be part of the 2022 edition of the Guinness World Records Book, specifically Maria Wattel, Olivier Richters and Pratik Mohite.

The funny thing is, not record holders for a specific result in a specific bodybuilding contest, but rather for their height. Wattel and Richters are the tallest male and female bodybuilders in the world, respectively. Wattel is 182,7 centimeters and Richters is 218,3 centimeters. However, at the opposite extreme of height, Pratik is an Indian bodybuilder who breaks the record for being the shortest in the world, specifically with a height of 102 centimeters.

Bodybuilding continues in the Guinness Book 2022

Despite the fact that previous years we have enjoyed bodybuilders over 80 years of age, in this edition there are no great achievements related to this sport. As we said before, the only relevant data is the height:

  • Tallest female bodybuilder: Maria Wattel, Netherlands. 182,7 centimeters, verified on January 15, 2021
  • Tallest Male Bodybuilder: Olivier Richters, The Netherlands. 218,3 centimeters, verified on April 27, 2021
  • Shortest Male Bodybuilder: Pratik Mohite, India. 102 centimeters, verified on February 8, 2021

The height disparity between Richters and Mohite is 116,3 centimeters, which means Olives is more than twice as tall as Pratik.

Maria Wattel, one of the tallest bodybuilders

This bodybuilder has one of the most comprehensive competitive resumes. In two years she has entered three bodybuilding contests, but in none of them did she get the expected score:

  • 2020 IFBB Romania Muscle Fest Pro – 8th place
  • 2021 IFBB Mr Big Evolution Pro – 7th place
  • 2021 IFBB Europe Pro Championships – 12th place

In an interview with Guinness World Records, Wattel recounted a time in his bodybuilding career when he would not receive scores from the judges in competitions due to his height. She was much taller than the other competitors, so the judges weren't sure how to correctly rate his physique. Basically, she has had to suffer from not being judged for something that I genetically cannot control: height. Wattel's current diet consists of doing six meals a day, each averaging 50 – 300 grams of protein per day.

The 2021 Olympia competition is scheduled for this week in Orlando, October 7-10. And, while not technically finalized, the world's tallest bodybuilder is not listed on the official list of qualified athletes in the women's physique division. Wattel will likely have to wait at least another year to qualify and compete on the sport's biggest stage, but she is the only female bodybuilder in the 2022 Guinness Book of World Records.
