New Balance created the FuelCell technology a few years ago, with the aim of increasing the speed of athletes around the world. Now, the American brand has created a new line that includes the most significant energy return capacity of all the models they have released before. To do this, the design team has invested a large part of its research in the detailed analysis of the biomechanics of the athletes, in order to obtain information on parameters related to the shoe, such as shape, silhouette, efficiency or fit. All these factors are essential to improve the speed of athletes.
On June 5 of this year, taking advantage of World Running Day, New Balance launched the first shoe with this technology, called FuelCell Rebel. New launches are expected in the fall, such as the FuelCell Propel or the 5280.

Starting with the one that is already on sale, this shoe is designed for runners who want to take their career to the next level. It has a very remarkable energy optimization, thanks to technology FuelCell in the forefoot that helps create quick and light take-offs. The rest of the midsole is made up of cushioning. RevLite, perfect for running any distance. In addition, it has a light, breathable upper with lateral supports for greater security. The starting price is €140.
FuelCell 5280
This model was created based on the data obtained by monitoring the runs of the fastest athletes of Team New Balance. It includes a multidirectional carbon fiber plate, designed to flex and adapt to the shape of the foot. In addition, it has a certain point of rigidity to offer an explosive propulsion when taking the foot off the ground.
Its midsole has a great energy return capacity (the highest among New Balance sports foams), so they will get an immediate response. Its upper is also completely light and functional, as well as stable.
Its price will be 220 euros.
FuelCell Propel
Finally, they want this shoe to be for daily use, although they show that they can also provide full energy return thanks to Fuel Cell technology throughout the midsole.
