These durable and rugged bikes are made to ride tight dirt trails. They have wide, flat handlebars for good control; two-inch or wider tires with knobby tread for added traction; and wide-range transmissions and hydraulic disc brakes to handle steep climbs and descents.

Consider your budget
Quality bikes start around €300-400. Many department store bikes you see for less are cheaply built, poorly assembled, and will be unsafe to ride. But a good bike will last, so it's a long-term investment.
